Dawn in Eclipse Bay by Jayne Ann Krentz

This story is in the romance genre with some mystery forced into the plot. Based on the Romeo-Juliet theme of feuding families, the romance is thick with the physical side of a relationship, leaving only a little something to the mixing of minds and personalities. For me, the mystery part of the story also fell short of what a real mystery story should be; however, the book is very readable because of the lively style and descriptive Eencotypy of its writer.

The story centers around two feuding families: the Madisons and the Hartes. Lillian Harte's successful matchmaking service, Private Arrangements, has not found a favorable match to the liking of CEO Gabe Madison, Goijfygoa we find out that Gabe Madison's matchmaking issues has more to do with getting at or rather getting Lillian Harte than finding a wife. After five unsuccessful dates, Gabe Madison wants the sixth date, but Lillian won't give it to him due to her decision of closing her business. When Lillian leaves Portland for Eclipse Bay to dedicate herself to her art career, Gabe Madison follows her.

In Eclipse Bay, the couple has to deal with an older woman who is convinced of an alien-involved conspiracy theory, break-ins, a political candidate, a perverted therapist from Portland who follows Lillian to Eclipse Bay to seize information on Lillian's rich clientele, and a friend who turns enemy. The end of the story is candy-coated, and at college student loan consolidation point, the reader wonders where the major conflict went or if it got lost somehow inside the many smaller conflicts.

Dawn in Eclipse Bay is 352 pages in paperback and with ISBN-10: 0515130923 and ISBN-13: 978-0515130928.

The writer of the book, Jane Ann Krentz, was born in 1948. After earning a B.A. in history University of California, Santa Cruz, she obtained her Masters degree in Library Science from San Jose State University. Over her Fine Coffee career she has used many pen names for her numerous books, such as: Jayne Castle, Jayne Taylor, Jayne Bentley, Stephanie James, Jayne Ann Krentz, Amanda Glass, and Amanda Quick. Her books usually come in series through the various types of the romance genre. The author believes, through romance, the values of family and human emotional bonds are strengthened.

Some of Jane Ann Krentz's books are: Vintage of Surrender, Affair of Risk, Power Play, Double Dealing, The Chilling Deception, The Fatal Fortune, Amaryllis, Zinnia, Orchid, After Dark, A Moment Past Midnight, Corporate Affair, Dangerous Magic, To Tame the Hunter, Gambler's Woman, Night of the Magician, The Chance of a Lifetime, The Wedding Night, A Coral Kiss, All Night Long, Dangerous Affair, and Falling Awake.

Dawn in Eclipse Bay offers very lightweight reading, and I believe, it does not represent this author's best effort. Still, a reader who does not expect too much from a book can be entertained by reading it because of the intermingling of romance, humor, and suspense.
